Experienced in all levels of Interactivity for eLearning:
Michelle Linder
Most recently, Michelle Linder attended the Georgia Institute of Technology where she was afforded the opportunity to take her artistic and creative background and apply them to Science, Technology and Research within the fieldsof Computer Science.
With a Bachelors of Fine Art (BFA) from one of the best art schools in the United States, the San Francisco Art Institute, and a Masters of Science (MS) from one of the top technology schools in the world, Georgia Tech, Ms. Linder is now using her talents and skill to come up with concepts, new technologies and best practices in User Experience (UX) Architecture and Design, Information Architecture (IA) and User Interface (UI) Design not thought of before. And no matter what the circumstances, she never runs out of ideas, because of the extensive research methodologies she uses. As such, she can create conceptually staying within the parameters of your time constraints, budgets and supporting technology that is accessible to your company.
During her tenure in Atlanta, Georgia Michelle has worked on several research projects including, but not limited to the following:

1. The Impressionists Game is a Unity-based game prototype to teach children about the impressionist genre in Fine Art. Users passively learn about art within a virtual reality in context to one or two artists at a time. Level 1 of the prototype involves a Magritte styled eye hovering over an ocean and shooting apples at users. Players maneuver around raining men in bowler hats to reach the sky-looking area of the eye, while dodging projected apples progressing in speed and frequency.
2. The Diabetic Pump Redesign, a 3-person group project to make a diabetic pump more user friendly with an interface system intuitively designed. Final prototype was a phone app where the users could have easier access in keeping track of, and modifying, their insulin drip, diet, and so on.
3. Michelle has also completed research and ran presentations on multiple subject matters, such as the many forms of dyslexia with focus on the causes and effective teaching methods, educational technology and Massive Open-source Online Courses (MOOKS), and the conveyance of heuristic evaluations of government websites with a focus on the needs of the handicapped, older adults and Section 508 Compliance.
The 3D Left-Handed Ergonomically-formed Mouse for
designers and animators which eliminates the need
for operating a keyboard when using various
design and animation programs.

Smart Contact Lenses and Laser Glasses
created for a fictional and speculative
design project. This included a mock
sales brochure, a research paper on the
technology available that can be used
to create such a device and slideshow
presentation of the effectiveness of
these glasses in both civilian and
military action. the series.
An Interactive Television Prototype developed
under Dr. Janet Murray in the Experimental Television
Lab (eTV) at Georgia Tech. This project involved making the
television series Justified user friendly, informative, and interactive for
anyone who is or is not familiar with the show. My contribution
included collecting footage establishing both the antagonists and
protagonists in the story’s plot and editing all the snippets into a
montage explaining each character’s role in the series.

Prior to moving to Atlanta, Georgia in 2010 and receiving her Masters of Science from the Georgia Institute of Technology in Human Computer Interaction, Ms. Linder had worked in Los Angeles within various capacities of the Feature Film Industry; writing, producing, editing and directing. One of her last positions was at a small movie studio where she designed feature film posters and DVD covers and worked as a story editor on feature film screenplays. She’s written several screenplays and books and has placed in many screenplay competitions including, but not limited to, The Nicholl’s Fellowship and Scriptapalooza at the Sundance Film Festival. Ms. Linder has seen 3 of her screenplays produced.
In 2009, when the economy challenged most industries, especially in film and entertainment, Ms. Linder decided to add to her skills by seeking education in a field that was more recession proof. As such, she looked into computer programming and web development. Wanting to make sure she had skills that would set herself apart from her competition in the job market, she moved to Atlanta in August of 2010 and began her goal to attend Georgia Tech and learn from the best.
Michelle Linder is part of four generations of artists in her family. Her grandfather worked in sculpture with bronze, marble and wood. Her mother is a painter of abstract art and decorative designs for children. Her sister is a published author and a painter, and her nephew creates 2D and 3D computer generated animation.

Years ago, Michelle started out studying commercial illustration and Graphics (both analogue and computer graphics with Photoshop and Illustrator) from the Academy of Arts University of San Francisco. In addition she gained extensive knowledge in the areas of composition (the study of controlling eye movement on a page), color theory and design. This led to interests and employment opportunities in make-up and special effects for film and stage. She worked on such films as The Golden Child, The Fly, Enemy Mine, Howard the Duck, Ice Pirates and more. (In addition to make-up skills, this field required extensive knowledge in sculpture, casting, prosthetics, working with poly-resins, poly-foam and silicone, as well as some animatronics.) She would have stayed in make-up, but computer animation began to replace many different types of special effects. As a result of less work in her field, Michelle went back to school, the San Francisco Art Institute, where she studied filmmaking and received her BFA. Later she studied advanced digital application with computer generated images (digital special effects for films) from New York University. This path lead to moving to Los Angeles and seeking a career as a writer and producer of independent films. And to supplement her income, she worked in clothing design, making jewelry and the creation of hand-made detailed mosaics on shoes using Swarovski crystals. She also sold some of her paintings in galleries in Beverly Hills and Los Angles (oil on canvas and mixed medium).
To Michelle, UX and UI is just another medium to approach with the same imagination and creativity as any other medium. Furthermore, she understands marketing, particularly in how to understand the different demographic groups; skills acquired in the entertainment industry.
